Making a Statement

Jacket: Missguided  Dress: H&M (old)  Bag: Henri Bendel (old)  Shoes: Primark (old)

After buying this dress a few years ago, it took me a while to style the dress in a way that suited me.
The cut of the dress, although different, was not particularly flattering.

I added a black belt tied around the waist to give a better shape and silhouette to the dress, as well as to provide more detail to the overall outfit.
The vibrancy of the fuchsia bag and teal jacket provide a stark contrast from the black dress and monochrome heels, making the outfit pop. I personally like how the contrasting colours compliment not only each other well, but the outfit as a whole. The jacket and bag could certainly be considered statement pieces due to their bright shades. A nice bag in particular is always a wise investment into anyone's wardrobe - even if it is a bold choice!

The outfit could alternatively be worn with black tights and a pair of black ankle boots to make this more accessible for Autumn, as well as making it easier to wear during the day.

Dark Dresses

Dress: Missguided (old)  Coat: Primark (old)  Bag: Accessorize (old)  Shoes: Dune

A staple outfit in my collection - simple yet (hopefully) effective.

This outfit shows a more 'stereotypical' approach to autumn fashion, with the navy dress being more appropriate for the upcoming months. The cowl neck detail gives the dress extra dimension, making it slightly more interesting than a straight-forward bodycon. Pairing a bodycon dress with a longer coat, in my opinion, is a very classic look and is usually my 'go-to' during autumn/winter fashion - draped over the shoulders, the coat and dress together provide an effortless, put-together look. The cream trench coat and nude accessories help to soften the look, providing a contrast to the dark blue and enable it to be appropriate for the warmer days we may face at the beginning of autumn, such as when these photos were taken. The brooch detailing on the shoes and the bow on the clutch bag give this outfit a more interesting finish.

So far, New York and London Fashion Week have been, making the last few weeks very exciting for all the fashion enthusiasts out there. With Milan starting in the next few days and Paris only round the corner, it is exciting to see what looks will be making their way into our wardrobes in the next few months - and hopefully inspiring my posts.

Changes

Playsuit: Affleck Palace (old)  Coat, Bag and Shoes: Primark (old)

It's September!!
For me, September is such an important month and it means that Christmas is only a few months away. However, it is important to make the most of the fashion opportunities and changes that come your way between now and then.

The playsuit is a seasonally-versatile piece, making it  perfect for the transition from summer to autumn. It could work on its own with a pair of wedges whilst on holiday, or alternatively styled as I have here, with a light coat and strappy heals to make it more appropriate for the September weather. The coat is most certainly a 'holy grail' item of mine and was incredibly inexpensive. It is a chic addition to anyone's wardrobe and is a recommended staple piece.
You can't go wrong with a trench coat!!
The muted colour of the coat, alongside the shoes and bag really bring out the orange and navy in the playsuit.

This outfit is fitting for the month of September, where we are lusting over A/W fashion choices, yet desperately trying to cling on to those summer months, and the summer looks that come with them. Pairing bright colours with muted tones enables summer pieces to creep back in to your autumn wardrobe.

Thank you to my wonderful friend, Hannah Dooley, for taking the photos - you are very talented and did the best job at doing the outfits justice!
